Shopping smart is a very good way to find good local produce, reduce food waste and can help sticking to a budget.
Plan out a menu for the week ahead and write out a list of items that you’ll need to purchase, consider having a ‘leftovers day’ near the end of the week to use up any leftover food that hasn’t been eaten.
At home we Freeze any leftovers for the days that we don’t have time to cook, just put a dish in the microwave. 

Buy loose fruit and veg if you know you won’t use a whole bag, this also cuts down on packaging as well as food waste. 
Where possible use ‘LOAF’, Locally produced, Organically grown, Animal friendly and Fairly traded. 

In the UK we through away 7.2 millions tonnes of food and drink from our own homes. On average that’s £640 a year per household. Together we can reduce this.
