Thank you Keith for a year at CAFOD!

Representatives from CAFOD are celebrating a local North Wales volunteer who has clocked up hundreds of hours of volunteering for the charity over the last year.

Keith McDonogh has been volunteering once a week for the last year helping at the local CAFOD Wrexham office.

Inspired to volunteer after his retirement, Keith has a background in education and safeguarding and was keen to continue utilising his skills and fill up his spare time.  Keith found out about CAFOD after being heavily involved in the Diocese of Wrexham for many years.

His role includes helping the office run smoothly and supporting CAFOD’s local representative, Colette, in delivering campaigns and appeals, such as the charity’s annual Lent Appeal.

This year, this campaign has the potential to make double the difference as all donations made, up to £5m, will be doubled by the UK government until 12 May.  It is with the support of volunteers like Keith, who process and keep in touch with parishioners from across the Diocese, that these appeals are so successful.

Keith said: “I enjoy managing the database and other tasks which help to ease the admin burden for Colette.”

Colette Byrne, CAFOD’s local representative in Wrexham, said: “Keith is instrumental in the smooth running of the Wrexham office and helps to keep things ticking over.  He’s a great addition to the team!

“He works behind the scenes to complete a range of tasks and always brings a friendly face to the office. We’re so grateful for his time and commitment to CAFOD and transforming lives overseas. Thank you Keith!”

CAFOD is supported by over 5,000 volunteers across England and Wales who do everything from communicating CAFOD’s work to local journalists and newspapers, to educating pupils about social justice and organising campaigning and fundraising events. The agency has volunteer roles to compliment every talent and time commitment.
